The Climate Society Foundation (YCS) of Bogor together with the Collaboration House (RUKO) held Training on Introduction to the Climate Village Program (Proklim) and the SPECTRUM Tool (Fast, Accurate, Responsible Emission Calculation System for the Community).
The training at the Lampung Forest Service Office, in Bandarlampung, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, was opened by the Head of the Lampung Forestry Service, Yanyan Ruchyansyah.
The speakers for this activity, namely Professor Rizaldi Boer as Executive Director of the Center for Climate Risk and Opportunity Management in Southeast Asia Pacific (CCROM-SEAP) IPB, Beti Nurbaeti (CCROM), and Gito Sugih (CCROM).
“This activity is part of the activities of the Climate Society Foundation with the House of Collaboration (RUKO) to try to recognize or acknowledge the extent to which the program carried out by the Protected Forest Management Unit (KPHL) can contribute to national policies, especially in dealing with climate change issues. ,” Said Professor Rizaldi Boer.
“One of the programs carried out with RUKO is fostering coffee farmers. This program tries to improve the side of coffee farming which has been more monoculture to switch to agroforestry-based coffee, as well as other activities that can actually be registered in the National Registration System, one of which is the Climate Village Program,” said the Executive Director of CCROM.
This training was attended by representatives from UPTD KPHL Pesisir Barat, KPHL Kotaagung Utara, KPHL Batu Tegi, Liwa, Bukit Punggur, Muara Dua, Sungai Buaya, Way Terusan, Way Waya-Tangkit Tebak, Pematang Neba, Pesawaran, Mount Balak, Mount Rajabasa- Way Pisang-Batu Serampok, KPHL Gedong Wani, Tahura Wan Abdul Rachman, and from RUKO.
Sharing Stories with the RUKO Assisted Community
The Climate Society Foundation (YCS) together with RUKO then conducted a visit to RUKO-assisted farmers on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
Professor Rizaldi Boer, Bety Nurbaety, M Ardiansyah, Mutipar Sadat, Yatna Supriyatna, and Anter Paralian (team from YCS); and the team from RUKO also attended this visit.
This visit was carried out to exchange stories in order to find out about the development of the group that had been fostered by RUKO through the Sustainable Coffee Action Program in the Landscape of Bukit Barisan Selatan (SCALA BBS/Sustainable Coffee Development in the Bukit Barisan Landscape), and to find out about the community’s response to forestry. social directly.
The Srikandi Maju Bersama Producer’s Cooperative in Pekon Ngarip, Ulubelu District, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung was the first location to visit and meet Sri Wahyuni as the Chairman of the Cooperative.
The next visit was carried out at the residence of Supriyono (member of Gapoktanhut Mitra Jaya Rindingan Abadi).
When the team from YCS and RUKO arrived, the management of the business saving group (KSU) had gathered, the management of the Mitra Jaya Rindingan Forest Farmer Group Association and the Head of the Margorukun VI Forest Farmers Group (KTH).
The Mitra Jaya Rindingan Abadi Business Savings Group (KSU MJR Abadi) which was fostered by RUKO was established in March 2020.
At the time of its initial formation, this group only consisted of approximately 20 members, with an initial capital of IDR 3,000,000 obtained from self-help.
Currently, in a period of approximately 7 months, group savings had reached approximately IDR 50,000,000 and the number of group members continued to grow up to 53 people.
The Mitra Jaya Rindingan Forest Farmers Group also plans to develop a nursery business unit. Previously, this group had participated in a nursery training held by RUKO in July 2020.
“Strengthening group institutions is very important to do to prepare human resources and group rules, so that whatever programs are given can be implemented properly by the group, issues of conservation and gender mainstreaming are also included in the AD / ART of this business saving group,” said Heri Hermiyatono from RUKO.
